  • Comments and processing instructions that contain tags
  • CDATA sections
  • Unexpected placement of spaces and line breaks within tags
  • Default attribute values
  • Character and entity references
  • Malformed documents
  • Internal DTD Subset

• Why not?

• • Unfamiliarity with parsers
  • Too slow
